MIND YOUR DOSE

If you're new to cannabis or considering adding it to your wellness routine, you likely have many questions. One of the main considerations is the modality of the plant. How will you take it in? From smoking and vaping to tinctures and edibles - there are different options for cannabis use. So which is right for you? We break down the differences and hone in on edible dosage best practices.

INGESTING VS INHALING

Due to the different mechanisms by which THC is delivered to your brain, edible cannabis can provide a longer, more intense high versus smoking.

The effects of inhaling canna are immediate and typically peak within 30 minutes because THC rapidly enters your bloodstream through the lungs, reaching the brain within minutes.

The delayed onset and greater duration of edible effects are due to the time it takes (typically 30-90 minutes) for THC to be digested, absorbed through the intestines, and then metabolized in the liver before entering the bloodstream. As a result, your effects will typically peak in 1-2 hours and last 4-8 hours depending on your metabolism, dose, and tolerance.

Ever noticed how the effects of drinks can hit you faster than gummies? It’s because liquids don’t need to be extensively broken down in the digestive system, so they reach your liver and bloodstream quicker.

DOSING YOUR GUMMIES

When trying a new product, or dabbling into canna for the first time, start with a lower dose than you think you need. We recommend new Moonies start with 2.5mg and gradually adjust their dose incrementally.

SOME FOOD FOR POT

Take sleep gummies like GOODNIGHT MOON as directed, 30-60 min before bedtime. This way you avoid lying awake waiting for it to kick in or lingering effects in the morning.

Because of the role your digestive system plays in ingesting canna, what you eat before taking an edible can impact your experience! Consuming saturated fats (like a spoonful of peanut butter or a slice of cheese) can aid THC absorption and enhance your high.
